Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), an arc welding process, is widely used in applications. In practice, SMAW applied to the process on hollow square pipe. Performance expected from this tensile strength of weld joint. The influenced by parameters which have possibility for optimization become ‘robust’. Robust a design less sensitive effect uncertain quantities or noise factors. Taguchi method most efficient accommodates factors and requires experiment. This study focusing optimizing Parameters such as current (I), electrode angle (θ), root gap (d) type (E) are adopted design. chosen strategy L9 fractional orthogonal array experiment, only 9 experiment samples needed 81 experiments that should been carried out full factorial objectivity maximize Three replications had performed generate estimates fluctuation output caused found 100A (θ) 90°, 2 mm, E7018 produce optimum results.
